# Arthur research and QA contribution

For Lorry and the existing Bella Times paper team. This is research and review material, not a competing edition or an approval to print. Request BT-20261026-COORD-01 has been acknowledged by Lorry.

## Immediate factual corrections to check in the eight page rebuild

The older eight page candidate visible in Claude used unsupported or outdated film scores. Sunday primary Rotten Tomatoes checks give:

| Film | Critics | Audience | Choc top out of 5 | Specific source |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Pressure | 89% | 95% | 4.60 | https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/pressure_2026 |
| Primetime | 86% | 77% | 4.08 | https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/primetime |
| Crawlers | 59% | 37% | 2.40 | https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/crawlers_2026 |
| The Devils | 55% | 87% | 3.55 | https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/the_devils |

Recheck before release. Formula is (critics plus audience) divided by 40, rounded to two decimal places. Never award a numeric average when either input is unknown. A label such as mixed or soon cannot produce a verified numeric rating. Keep the approved eight page layout while correcting values.

The old visible Delta article also linked to the Andy Cohen and Jacqueline Laurita Bravo story. That is a mismatched source credit. Every article needs its own actual publisher and specific supporting URL. Reading Room homepages and generic gossip categories are not adequate article links. Review the corrected PDF, not browser HTML alone. Lorry has already identified a page 4 print overlap in the 28.3 MB candidate and asked the paper team to fix it.

## Current AI candidates from primary announcements

These are short original summaries, ready for Claude to select and place. Keep the availability labels.

### Claude Duet: a preview of a calmer working day

Anthropic announced Claude Duet on 21 October. It is designed to surface priorities and continue work while its user is away. This is a research preview with a waitlist, starting with US Pro and Max subscribers. Australian availability is not confirmed by the announcement. Treat it as a development to watch, rather than something every local reader can switch on today.

Availability: research preview, US paid subscribers first, waitlist.

### ChatGPT adds a lock for selected conversations

OpenAI's 20 October release notes introduce locked chats. The feature hides selected conversations from ordinary history and search, opening them with a PIN or supported device authentication. It is rolling out gradually across Free, Go, Plus and Pro. Retention and model improvement settings stay unchanged. Do not describe it as new encryption or promise that every account already has it.

Availability: gradual rollout, account and client availability can vary.

### Google gives small businesses a brand hub

Google's 21 October announcement introduces a Gemini business landing page, brand style tools and connected apps. Owners can supply a brand kit to help produce consistent visuals. Google says the tools are beginning a global rollout over the coming days. Useful for small business readers, with a clear distinction between an announced rollout and confirmed access on an individual account.

Availability: global rollout beginning, not a guarantee of immediate access.

Use authentic publisher marks only. If the required verified mark is not obtainable, print the publisher name and record a missing asset flag. That fallback is expressly allowed by Neil and should not lead to an invented logo.

## Cooking sources: a legitimate accessible taste route

I could read taste.com.au's own publicly hosted One Pot cookbook PDF directly. This is a publisher provided public resource, not a bypass of the recipe pages that returned 403. It provides two exact recipe sources if the individual pages remain unavailable. Credit the exact titles and page links. Use brief original adaptations; do not copy the cookbook's instructions or food photography.

Proposed 4 Ingredients sources, both verified on the brand's own pages:

1. Chicken & Avocado Lettuce Cups, serves 4. Kim McCosker, originally posted 16 October 2020. https://4ingredients.com.au/blogs/recipes/chicken-avocado-lettuce-cups
2. Sloppy Joes, serves 4. Kim McCosker, originally posted 9 October 2020. https://4ingredients.com.au/blogs/recipes/sloppy-joes

Proposed taste.com.au sources, both verified in the public PDF:

3. Creamy Italian chicken, serves 4, 5 minutes preparation and 20 minutes cooking. Printed page 25, physical PDF page 26. https://www.taste.com.au/files/pdf/one-pot-ebook.pdf#page=26
4. Super veg minestrone, serves 4, 5 minutes preparation and 20 minutes cooking. Printed page 10, physical PDF page 11. https://www.taste.com.au/files/pdf/one-pot-ebook.pdf#page=11

These are evergreen recipes, not newly published news. Confirm the choices against the weekly rotation ledger before use. If a direct recipe article URL is obtained legitimately, use it in addition to the exact PDF page source. Keep both taste summaries together concise, approximately 60 to 75 words each, with no copied method prose. Obtain recipe photography permission or use an appropriate cleared image; do not silently reuse unrelated RecipeTin photographs as if they depict these dishes. Recipe selection and final assembly remain Claude's role.

## Newspaper design study

Visually inspected legitimate Daily Telegraph covers reproduced by Kiosko:

* 31 January 2024: https://en.kiosko.net/au/2024-01-31/np/au_daily_telegraph.html
* 5 March 2010: https://en.kiosko.net/au/2010-03-05/np/au_daily_telegraph.html

The second is a sports led FRONT cover, not a back page. Do not mislabel it based on the image search result. Observed principles: one dominant display headline and story image; smaller secondary stories on a clear rail; compact caption and attribution; a tight, repeatable grid; strong contrast in headline scale; short deck text and clear page pointers. The January example uses a very large condensed sans headline, a serif nameplate and narrow serif story columns. These are visual observations, not a claim that we licensed its typeface or identified its exact font family.

A legitimate descriptive back page example is Crikey's 4 May 2005 article, Seven joins fight for NRL rights: https://www.crikey.com.au/2005/05/04/seven-joins-fight-for-nrl-rights/ . It describes a full length main photo, a strong headline and front page pointer. A suitable actual back page image still needs visual inspection; do not claim that part of the study complete. The team may already have one in its cover playbook; please include its provenance in the handoff.

For the cooking back page, apply the same hierarchy while keeping all four recipe cards readable: a restrained section lead, clear dish names, consistent serving/time lines, concise method paragraphs, precise source credits and useful selective food colour. Avoid shrinking body text merely to accommodate an oversized image.

## Print and rebuild checks

Keep text and rules as vectors with embedded permitted fonts. Optimise oversized photo assets to their actual print boxes rather than rasterising whole pages. Retain crisp comic and puzzle line art. Compare every PDF page before and after compression for text reflow, missing marks, image crops, colour and clipping. Aim under 14,000,000 bytes and stay strictly under 20,000,000 bytes.

Brother's receipt and official instructions confirm the 20 MB total attachment limit. They do not prove colour, duplex long edge or attachment only settings. The Mac has no configured CUPS printer destination, so it supplies no device web address. I have asked Neil for the Brother settings page or printer IP. Do not assume these settings from the successful penguin test.

Official Brother guidance: https://support.brother.com/g/s/id/htmldoc/mfc/cv_dcpb7600d/sfgle/html/GUID-A9E9A49D-179B-4E50-AB31-AEC71CAC5ADE_1.html

It notes that email content and attachments may both print by default. Confirm attachment only mode to avoid an extra page. Do not enable the service or accept new terms merely to inspect an existing setup. Any authentication or security warning that needs Neil must be reported rather than bypassed.
