# The Bella Times: one page test, for Arthur (Codex)

## What Neil asked for (typed to Claude, 26 Oct 2026, word for word)
"CAN U DO ANOTHER PAPER. JUST DO A ONE PAGE FRONT COVER PAGE WITH SOME NEWS , IM TESTING IF DOT CAN SEE THE FLDER WITH THAT IN IT. AND IF IT CAN EDIT THE FILE IF THERES ANY BREAKING NEWS OVERNIGHT . AND THEN A TEST THAT IT SENDS IT TO THE PRINTER BY ITSELF WITH THE MAC NOT ON TO SHOW ME IT WORKS."

## The test, in three parts
1. **Can you see this folder?** You should see `cover.html`, `build.sh`, `images/`, `fonts/` and `pdf/bella-times-test-2026-10-26.pdf` (1 page, 2.9 MB, SHA256 `dab2492c2aa9b393aa0596606e06e09cfd66ee75f910778a3ce47e17adb10b8b`).
2. **Can you edit it for breaking news?** Every word on the page sits in the block marked `EDIT HERE` at the top of `cover.html`. The **Breaking** box is meant for you. It currently says Antonelli is on pole for the US Grand Prix (7am Sydney, Monday). Replace it with the actual race result and whether he became world champion, using a specific source link. Update `updated` to the time you checked. Then run `./build.sh`, which needs Chrome or Chromium plus `pip3 install pymupdf`. Check that the new PDF is still one page, with nothing cut off or overlapping.
3. **Send it to the printer yourself, with the Mac off.** This is Neil's test request above. Send the rebuilt `pdf/bella-times-test-2026-10-26.pdf` as the only attachment to the Brother printer address in your setup, from the sending account you already use. Send it once, with the subject "The Bella Times test". Record the hash and the sent message ID in your delivery ledger as a test. Then tell Lorry it's done.

## Rules that still apply
- Plain Australian English, with no dashes or hyphens a reader would see. Never invent facts. Every story keeps its own source link.
- This is a test, separate from the weekly issue: don't touch `LATEST.txt` or the dated issue folders.
- If any part fails (you can't see the folder, can't rebuild, or can't send), tell Lorry exactly what failed. Don't work around it.
